Davey Hamilton gets reacquainted with Indy (with audio)

INDIANAPOLIS – Idaho race car driver Davey Hamilton took a required refresher course Monday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, running a fast lap of 219.901 mph in preparation for Indy 500 qualifying.Hamilton, who hasn’t driven since last year’s Indy 500, drove 38 laps around the 2.5-mile track. Thirteen of those laps surpassed 215 mph.Tuesday is the first day for practice laps for all drivers.”It was a good start,” Hamilton said. “We had two sets of tires to use, that’s what the veterans get. With the first set of tires, I was trying to figure everything out again and get comfortable. “The car is solid. When we went out the last time, we took some downforce out of it and I finally felt the car do something. It had some under steer, which is great. I was lifting a little bit, but it’s going to be fine.
