Business Digest: Why Auburn car dealer closed

Michael Barbieri, owner and manager of Auburn Nissan, revealed Tuesday that financial difficulties led to the closing of his dealership in Auburn on April 24.

Speaking from his Auburn home, Barbieri said: “It did not work out with Key Bank National out of Cleveland, and based on the economic times, they decided against going on.”

Barbieri is the third dealer to end new-vehicle sales. Two Florin Road dealers accepted consolidation buyout offers from domestic automakers pushing to reduce the ranks of dealers in cities around the nation.
